Rishabh hotel Jhansi review | veg lollipops ordered for home delivery





Here is another food review on my blog and this one is of Rishabh Hotel Jhansi. This is a brief review of only one food item that i ordered for home deliver. A detailed review will be coming soon. I ordered veg lollipops , one of my favorite food items and this is my 100% honest review about it:

Packaging:  


I'm quite disappointed with the way my food was packed. Although it was hot and fresh when delivered but not in its shape. The lollipops came in a some what  cylindrical plastic box and a cloth carry bag.




 the lollipops were over lapped each other which made them break. also the sauce spilled on the sides of the box(inside) which made it look quite messy. the end of the lollipop sticks were not covered with the foil which made it messy even while eating


Price and quantity:

I got my veg lollipops for INR 119 approximately which i got at a discount from the zomato food delivery service. The actual price of it is INR 171. I got 6 lollipop pieces for this price which is satisfactory.

Taste and flavor:


The veg loliipops were quite flavorfull but too spicy for a non-spice lover.
the taste was tangy and delicious. they were over coated with sauce which made it drip while eating. The lollipops were not crisp at all on the outside and were actually mushy. Not sticking firmly on the sticks , they dripped down within the first morsel so the rest had to be eaten with a spoon. Quite fragile lollipops!!!





Conclusion:



To conclude, this wasn't the best of  veg lollipops I've had and not even the best order to judge the restaurant. We do actually need a detailed analysis which i'll be bringing soon after my visit to the restaurant. As for the veg lollipops, If  I were to rate it, It scores a 5 on a scale of 10 and 2 out 5 stars.
But as I stated , it will be too early to form any opinion of the restaurant as this was just one Item. I will personally visit the restaurant soon to bring a complete detailed review. Till then keep eating and keep following.

                  Masala Poha| Indian Puffed rice recipe

Known as a major Indian snack, the masala poha is the first choice of every north Indian , for breakfast. Being a light snack it does not make your body lethargic and also keeps your stomach full for quiet some time, thereby preventing you to munch on something else. Its spicy and tangy flavor is what your palate will desire every morning . and the veggies are fresh like a salad giving you all the antioxidants required for the day. try out this amazing recipe and experience it for yourself.

Ingredients:

  • Poha- 2 cups
  • cooking oil - 2 tbs.
  • cumin seeds- 1 tbs.
  • peanuts- 1/2 cup ( roasted)
  • curry leaves- 5-6
  • green chilies -  1 cut into small pieces
  • lemon juice- 2 -3 tbs.
  • ginger - a small pieces cut into julians
  • potato - 1 cut into fine pieces
  • onion- 1 finely chopped
  • tomato - 1 finely chopped 
  • coriander - 1/c cup finely chopped
  • Turmeric powder-  1 tsp.
  • red chili powder - 1 tsp.
  • coriander powder - 1 tbs.
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • Garam masala - 1 tbs.
  • water - 2 cups

Method:

  • take poha in a large strainer and wash it with water twice. keep it aside.
  • In a pan add cooking oil and let it heat on low flame. Now add cumin seeds to it.
  • the cumin seeds will start sizzling immediately if the oil is appropriately hot. at this time add the curry leaves, ginger Julian  and potatoes. sprinkle some salt over it and stir. fry the potatoes for a bout 2 min and then cover the lid to speed up the cooking. keep checking after every 2 min and stir it to avoid sticking to the pan. cook the potatoes till the are slightly golden in color.
  • Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder , garam masala and salt. mix everything well. 
  • Add Poha and pea nuts to the pan and mix everything nicely so that the masala in the pan gets nicely coated on poha.
  • At last, turn off the flame and sprinkle the chopped onion, tomato coriander and lemon juice. mix everything well and serve hot

  • Soya chaap sticks- 3-4. buy it here
  • Curd - 3-4 tbs.
  • cinnamon - 1 stick
  • green cardamoms-  3- 4
  • Bay leaves - 2
  • cloves- 2-3
  • Roasted cumin powder - 1tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1tsp.
  • red chili powder - 1 tsp.
  • kashmiri red chili powder - 1 tbs.
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbs.
  • Salt- 1 tbs.
  • Garama masala powder - 2 tbs.
  • chaat masala powder - 1tsp. get it here
  • dried fenugreek leaves - 2 tbs. get it here
  • fresh cream - 2 tbs.
  • Butter - 20 g
  • cooking oil - 2 cups
  • Onions- 2 ( finely sliced)
  • tomato- 1 cut into small pieces
  • ginger - a small piece
  • garlic- 3-4 cloves
  • green chilies - 2( cut into small pieces)
  • cashew - 6-7 pieces   
  • water - 2 cups

Method:

  • remove the chaaps from the sticks and cut them into small circular discs. keep the discs thick enough.
  • add oil in a pan and heat it. once the oil is hot enough, add the chaap pieces and fry them nicely on low flame till the become golden brown in color. observe that the chaap pieces become larger than before. 
  • now take out all the pieces on a paper towel to remove all the excess oil.let the pieces cool down. transfer these fried pieces in a large mixing bowl and add curd, butter and chaat masala . over it. mix everything well so that the marinade gets nicely coated over each chaap piece.
  • cover the mixing bowl with a cling wrap and let the marinated chaap pieces rest for about 20 min in the refrigerator.
  • In a grinding jar  add the tomato pieces, green chilies, ginger, garlic and grind everything to make a pure.
  • heat the remaining oil in the pan again and transfer all the onion slices in it. fry the onions on low flame till they turn golden brown. after frying, remove them from the oil on a paper towel and allow them to cool down.
  • after the onions are cooled, transfer them to the grinding jar, add the cashews and add some water. grind to make a fine paste of it.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the pan again, add the bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon stick, green cardamoms and let them sizzle for a minute in the warm oil. now take out the green cardamoms and thaw them to make a rough powder. this can be used later.
  • to this oil add the tomato pure and salt and cook it for 5 min till the tomatoes are soft, oil the moisture is gone and begin leaving the oil from the sides.
  • At this point add the onion and cashew paste. mix it and cook for the next 2 min to integrate everything together.
  • Now add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, kashmiri red chili powder,coriander powder, roasted cumin powder and a tbs. of garam masala. sprinkle some water and cook the gravy for 5 min. keep string and mixing. 
  • to this gravy add the marinated chaap pieces and mix everything for the next five min. Since the chaap pieces were marinated in the curd, it needs to be cooked well enough.
  • Now add all the remaining water , dried fenugreek leaves, a tbs. of garam masala and mix again. cover the lid and let the chaaps cook in the gravy for 10-15 min with the lid covered. this way it will absorb all the flavors and the gravy will get filled in its layers nicely.
  • after 15 min, your soya masala chaap is ready. spread the fresh cream over it and sprinkle some coriander leaves on it to garnish.
  • Serve it hot with chapati and enjoy!

Soya Masala Chaap| mouth watering and delicious soya recipe| A great substitute for animal protein

                                          Veg Mutton 

One of the most interesting dishes around the world is veg mutton. Yes! you read it right, 'Veg Mutton'. People often wonder," how can mutton be vegetarian?". Well, here is something that looks and tastes exactly like mutton but its actually a fruit.
     Its jack fruit. Jack fruit has a texture  similar to mutton  and when cooked with some special spices, according to this wonderful recipe , it tastes exactly like a non vegetarian delicacy. so here is the recipe of veg mutton or Raw jack fruit curry.

Ingredients:

  • Jack fruit- Raw 1/2 kg. (cut into small pieces)
  • Mustard oil - 2 cups.
  • dried fenugreek leaves- 2-3 tbs.
  • water- 2 ltr.
  • butter- 2 spoon full.
  • salt- 2-3 tbs.
whole spices
  • cumin seeds- 1 tbs.  
  • bay leaves - 2- 4 leaves
  • green cardamom - 4-5 pieces
Ground spices:
  • coriander seed powder - 1 tbs.
  • turmeric powder - 2 tsp.
  • Red chili powder - 1 tsp.
  • Kashmiri red chili powder - 2 tbs.
  • Garam masala powder - 2 tbs.
  • Salt - 2 tbs.
Veggies:
  • Onions -  3-4 pieces(finely chopped)
  • tomato puree - 1 cup
  • ginger garlic paste - 2 tbs.

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker add 1 cup mustard oil and heat it well. to the hot oil add the jack fruit pieces and fry them well for about 5-10 min on med flame till the begin to look golden.
  • Now add 1 and 1/2 lt. water in the cooker. add 1 tsp. turmeric powder and 1 tbs salt. mix everything well and cover the lid. after 2 whistles, turn off the flame and let the cooker cool down on its own naturally.  
  • In a frying pan add 1 cup oil and heat it. to the hot oil add all the whole spices and let them sizzle for about 2 min. now take out the cardamoms and keep them aside to be used later.
  • Add the onions in the pan and fry them nicely till they turn golden brown in color.
  • after the onions are fries, add the ginger garlic paste. mix and cook for 2 min.
  • Now add tomato puree and salt. mix everything well and cook for about 2 min. Now add the ground spices. 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbs. coriander seed powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, 2 tbs. kashmiri red chili powder, 1 tbs garam masala and 1 tbs salt. mix everything thoroughly and cook for about 5 min till the oil starts oozing out of the gravy.
  • Now add 1 cup water and the boiled jack fruit pieces into the gravy. on top of  it, sprinkle the fenugreek leaves, 1 tbs. garam masala and 2 spoonful of butter. 
  • mix everything and cover the lid. let the jack fruit cook in the gravy with the pan covered with the lid for the next 20 min. this is how the jack fruit pieces will absorb all the flavors of the gravy.  
  • After 20 min. the veg mutton is ready to be served. serve it hot with some chapatis.

Veg Mutton | Raw jack fruit curry | Non-veg for the vegans

                                               Veg Kabaab

Another non-veg delicacy modified and simplified for vegans around the world is'Veg kabaab'. Ordinarily made of minced meat, The dish is a sensation among the non-vegetarians. Why should the vegetarians be left out from enjoying its heavenly flavor. So here is a recipe where the minced meat is replaced by soya chunks. Even though the recipe is modified, the special fact about it is that it still holds its non-veg flavors and looks similar to it. Try out this recipe and enjoy your absolutely vegan Kabaabs.

 Ingredients:

  •  Refined flour- 2/3 cup
  • corn starch - 4-5 tbs.
  • Soya chunks - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 cut into small peices
  • garlic- 6 cloves
  • Ginger - a small peices
  • green chilies - 2
  • Coriander( cilantro) - 1 cup chopped
  • Red chili powder - 1 tbs.
  • Coriander seed powder - 2 tbs.
  • Garam masala powder - 2 tbs.
  • Roasted cumin powder - 1 tsp.
  • Turmuric powder - 1 tsp.
  • Salt - 1 tbs.
  • Cooking oil - 1 cup
  • water -  2-3 cups
  • food colour - 1 pinch ( red)

Method:

Keema:

  • Boil the water    
  • Take soya chunks in a bowl and pour boiling water over them. let them soak in water  and become soft for about 20 min.
  • In a grinding jar add onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies , coriander and grind them all together. Ensure a fine paste is made after grinding.
  • After 20 min of soaking in water, squeeze the soya chunks to discard all the water and transfer them in the grinder and grind until a fine paste is formed and the chunks get nicely integrated with the green veggie paste already in the grinder.
  • transfer the paste in a large mixing bowl and add refined flour, corn starch, red chili powder, turmuric powder, coriander seed powder, garam masala powder, roasted cumin powder, food colour and salt.
  • mix everything thoroughly. keema for the kabaab is ready. 

Frying the kabaabs:

  • In a frying pan add oil and heat it.
  • Apply some water on your hands every-time you pick the keema. this will ensure better handling and ease in giving the shape.
  • Now place the keema on a skew and start rolling with your hand to make long tubes of it. use water to shape the kabaabs. 
  • once the shape is perfect, gently remove the kabaab from the skew and put it in the hot oil.
  • fry the kabaabs on low flame.
  • You can also make round balls of keema and flatten it between your palms to make the wheel shape.
  • When the kabaabs are golden brown, take them out and serve them hot with some masala dahi( curd).
Tip: eat the kabaabs with parathas (Indian bread) for better experience.

                                      Bread Gulab Jamun

'Gulab Jamun', the word itself brings water to the mouth. But when it comes to making gulab jamun , it requires a lot of precision. here is a modified of this complex dish which is easier than the original one and does not even take lot of time to be made. With this recipe you can enjoy your favorite gulab jamuns in just 25 min. The ingredient list is also very small and will not make you run to the super market( we usually have these things in our pantry). Here is the all new and unique, instant bread gulab jamun recipe.


Ingredients: 

  • White sliced bread - 10 slices
  • milk- 1/2 cup
  • Pure ghee - 1 cup
  • Sugar- 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder- 1 tsp.
  • black pepper powder -  1 pinch
  • Grated nuts- 1/4 cup
  • water- 2/3 cup

Method

Dough:

  • Remove the corners of the bread and put all the slices in mixer to grind. make a fine powder out of these slices. 
  • transfer the bread powder in a large mixing bowl and add cardamom powder and black pepper powder to it and mix well
  • now add 1 tbs. milk at a time and start kneading the dough.
  • Kneed a soft dough and then allow it to rest for about 15 min

Sugar syrup:

While the dough is put to rest, prepare the sugar syrup

  • In a sauce pan add sugar and water. put on the gas stove at low flame. stir for somtime then let the syrup boil on its own.
  • let the syrup boil for about 5 min. Once the consistency is thick enough( to check the consistency, take some syrup in a spoon and let it cool. touch the syrup between your index finger and thumb and try to stretch it. if it makes a single thread like formation, the syrup is ready. if not, let it boil for some more time) turn off the flame.

 Frying the gulab jamun:

  • make small round balls of the dough
  • In a frying pan add ghee and fry all the balls at low flame.
  • keep flipping carefully to ensure all the balls are evenly fried.
  • when the balls turn golden brown, take them out of the pan.

Sugar coating:

  • Transfer the fried balls into the sugar syrup and turn on the flame. keep it low.
  • let all the balls cook in the syrup for about 2 min then turn off the flame.
  • let the balls remain dipped in the sugar syrup for 15-20 min.

Serving:

  • Serve the gulab jamuns in a bowl and garnish with nuts.
  • Tip: sprinkle some rose water for added flavor.
  • serve the gulab jamuns with vanilla ice-cream for a unique and amazing combination.

At first look of this dish , it is very difficult to differentiate it from its non-veg friend. read the recipe and try it out for yourself. Mark my words "Its 100% vegetarian".

Ingredients:

  • refined flour- 1 cup
  • cooking oil - 1/2 cup
  • Black pepper powder- 1 tsp.
  • garam masala powder - 1 tbs.
  • ginger garlic paste- 1 tbs.
  • food colour powder - 1 pinch(red)
  • tomato ketchup - 1/2 cup
  • veggies (capsicum,cabbage,onion,green chilies. all roughly chopped) - 1 cup altogether.
  • water-1/4 cup

Method:

Preparing the batter:
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the veggies, refined flour, black pepper powder, Garam masala powder, ginger-garlic paste,food colour , salt and water.
  • Mix everything nicely. use your hands for mixing for best results.
Frying fritters: 
  • Take a large frying pan and add cooking oil in it and heat it.
  •  once the oil is hot enough, lower the flame. 
  • take small portions of batter on your fingers and drop it in the hot oil to make fritters of it.
  • fry the fritters on low flame till they turn golden brown in colour.
  • Now transfer the fritters on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • remove the oil from the pan and empty it.
Coating the sauce:
  • after keeping the fritters on paper towel for about 5 min, transfer the fritters back into the empty pan and add tomato ketchup over them. this brings glaze to the fritters.
  • mix well and ensure that the ketchup is nicely coated on every fritter.
  • now turn on the flame an keep it to the lowest. mix the fritters again for about a min.
plating and serving:
  • transfer the fritters in a plate and garnish with coriander leaves and grated cheese(optional)
  • Serve along with some Raita
